Ek Mulaqat

Ek Mulaqat

A play on the love life of Sahir & Amrita
August 09, 2026|5:00 - 6:30 p.m. IST
A Hindi-Urdu play by Saif Hyder Hasan & Summana Ahmed
Ek Mulaqat is a poignant, critically acclaimed Hindi-Urdu theatrical play that explores the unrequited love story between the legendary poets Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam. The production features actor Shekhar Suman in the role of the famous poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi, while Geetika Tyagi (and previously Deepti Naval in earlier iterations) portrays the eminent Punjabi author and poet Amrita Pritam.
It imagines one final meeting between the two legendary poets bound by a love that remained unfinished, yet unforgettable. Through intimate confessions, Urdu verses and aching silences, the play traces a relationship shaped by longing, regret and poetry. With powerful performances and minimalist staging, it becomes a moving portrait of love that endured beyond words, time and togetherness.
